Where it All Began
"My husband and I met in college when we were just 17, taking the same program. Back then, I thought he was incredibly talented but very reserved — not the chatty type, but always kind and gentle. One of the first things I learned about him was that he sings, plays the guitar, and writes his own songs."
Love that Bloomed
"We started out as friends, then became best friends before anything romantic happened. We were young and definitely immature at first, but we grew up together. Through long months apart during COVID and the growing pains of figuring out who we wanted to be individually, we learned how to give each other space without growing apart. I didn’t fully realise he was “the one” until our first out-of-town trip at 21. Seeing how patient, present, and responsible he was made me realise I never wanted the trip to end. I wanted to go home to him every day."
The Proposal
"His proposal was perfectly him — thoughtful, creative, and completely unexpected. I had been (not so subtly) hinting that I wanted to get engaged. So on a random weekday, he asked if we could work remotely from a café. I showed up in pajamas, completely clueless. Then my husband’s original song started playing in the café. I was so excited for him that I didn’t even question it, until he walked back, knelt down, and everything suddenly made sense. I was sobbing. Completely surprised, but completely sure."
Wedding and Future Plans
"In 2024, we found ourselves at a crossroads: have a big wedding back home, or use our savings to move to Australia so I could pursue postgraduate studies. We chose the leap of faith. We moved to Brisbane and started building our new life from scratch. Eventually, we decided to get married quietly at the Brisbane Registry Office. Just us, with only our immediate families and closest friends knowing. The weeks leading up to it felt intimate and peaceful, like we were living inside our own little secret. "
The Special Day
"Brisbane holds such a special place in our hearts. It’s where we chose each other and our future. It’s where we’ll raise our children and build our family. Walking down the aisle, nine years of memories flashed before me. All I could think was, “Finally. This is really it.” The day was perfect, and the morning after felt surreal — waking up giddy, realising we were finally husband and wife."
